I transcribed the sound of the piano’s sharp and minor keys in visual terms of black and white. As one would hear rhythm and feel the dynamic of sound, so would one see and feel the spaces and lines in my compositions. Patterns of repetition, variation and contrast in music are also present in my paintings. The circular strokes in the painting “Ode to Joy” not only depict the composer’s notes on a musical score but also people in a metaphorical way, relating to the brotherhood of mankind, which is Beethoven’s message in this particular symphony.
